Clean up Lakewood this weekend

Faith is participating in Keep Lakewood Beautiful’s Great American Clean-Up & Earth Day Festivities this Saturday (April 20).

A Faith team will help clean up Wagar Park, just a couple of blocks from the church at the northwest corner of Madison and Hilliard. Meet at the church at 8:45 a.m. and we’ll walk over.

The clean-up will be from to 12 noon, followed by a Volunteer Lunch and Earth Day activity booths at the Woman’s Club Pavilion at Lakewood Park from noon until 2 p.m.

- Maundy Thursday Service – 7 p.m., scripture, prayers and Holy Communion as we remember the Last Supper.

- Good Friday – 7 p.m. The Seven Last Words of Christ and response/reflections from literature, including Emily Dickinson.

- Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service – 6:30 a.m., at Lakewood Park on the bluff above Lake Erie. Organized by the Lakewood Ministerial Association; Pastor Rollenhagen preaching.

- Easter Breakfast at Faith – 9 a.m. All are welcome.

- Easter Morning Worship at Faith – 10:30 a.m. All are welcome.

Spring break Kids Kamp

Faith is happy to offer a fun, two-day Kids Kamp for kids ages 5-12 while Lakewood schools are on spring break this year.

The camp will feature a Pinewood Derby, jewelry-making, cooking, games and music. The dates are Thursday, April 4, and Friday, April 5 (which includes a family dinner on Friday evening). Registration is $10 per child.

Making Sense of the Cross

During Lent, we gather Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel to consider Jesus’ death on the cross and what it means for us today.

Tonight (Feb. 19), we will take a look at 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:2 and the “foolishness” of the cross. What does Paul mean by that? And what about the cross is startling, scandalous, or troubling to you?

Ash Wednesday services

Join us for worship with imposition of ashes and Holy Communion, either mid-day at 12:15 p.m. or in the evening at 7 p.m. this Wednesday (Feb. 13). All are also welcome to a simple soup supper at 6 p.m., before the evening service.

This is a joint service with Trinity Lutheran Church/Lakewood and St. Thomas Lutheran Church/Cleveland.
